Established on 30th April 1994, AAT was founded with the primary objective of developing in-country capability for the maintenance and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) of Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, specifically those manufactured and supplied by Leonardo S.p.A. In addition to its core focus on ATC systems, AAT also markets and supplies related Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems and equipment, including Airport Navigational Aids (NAVAIDS), Surveillance (Radar), and Communication systems.
AAT currently holds an authorised capital and paid-up capital of RM10 million. Since its inception, AAT has undergone a continuous and progressive technology transfer (TOT) programme from Leonardo S.p.A, which began in 1996. As a result, AAT is now the only company in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region that is qualified and certified by Leonardo S.p.A. to provide maintenance services and ILS for all Leonardo ATC radar and systems.
AAT has maintained a forward-looking approach, staying abreast of the latest advancements in CNS/ATM technology. With the support of its strategic partner, Leonardo S.p.A., AAT has successfully evolved into a key local and regional player in providing world-class engineering maintenance and integrated logistics support services for high-technology ATM systems.
Currently AAT has a fleet of skilled and competent workforce of 180 CNS/ATM engineers, all of whom have been specially trained and certified by Leonardo S.p.A. to provide comprehensive one-stop maintenance services for Malaysia’s CNS/ATM Systems, covering Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. This extensive training guarantees compliance with the operational requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the safety guidelines set forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Among the 180 engineers, 40 are specialists in Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS/ATM) systems maintenance. These specialists ensure the highest levels of operational excellence and are dedicated to maintaining an exceptional System Operational Availability (SOA) of 99.95%, consistently meeting CAAM’s operational requirements and ICAO's safety recommendations.
As an ISO27001 Certified ISMS Certification and NACSA certified Managed Security Operation Centre (CSOC), AAT is ready to undertake the cyber security challenge today. Together with Leonardo, we have layup sequence of TOT programme to keep abreast with the current trends.
AAT’s reputation has been built on a foundation of quality, reliability, and consistent performance. By meeting the stringent operational requirements of CAAM and adhering to ICAO safety guidelines, AAT has earned the trust and confidence of both local and regional stakeholders. This commitment to excellence is reflected in the high SOA figures, which are a testament to AAT’s ability to provide uninterrupted and reliable service for the management of critical air traffic systems.
AAT has emerged as a credible and trusted ATM systems integrator in Malaysia and throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The company's strong partnership with Leonardo S.p.A., its ongoing investment in training and technology, and its commitment to the highest standards of service and safety, have positioned AAT as a leader in the maintenance and support of ATM systems.
Given the company’s proven track record, technical capabilities and its dedicated workforce, AAT continues to meet the evolving needs of air traffic management in Malaysia and other countries for services expansion.
