Corporate History

Advanced Air Traffic Systems (M) Sdn Bhd (AAT) was established on 30 April 1994 as a follow on to the implementation of the Malaysian Air Traffic Services Modernization Program (MATSMP) by the Malaysian Government in 1992, undertaken by CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY OF MALAYSIA Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). The MATSMP project was awarded to Alenia S.p.A., a Finmeccanica company of Italy. AAT was nominated as the beneficiary and become the platform for the Transfer of Technology (TOT) program to Malaysia from Finmeccanica S.p.A. (now known as Leonardo S.p.A.).

As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and supplier of the MATSMP Air Traffic Control (ATC) radar and systems acquired by Malaysia, the Malaysian Government advised Finmeccanica to establish a local partner for the purpose of transferring relevant technology on ATC radar in particular and air traffic management (ATM) system in general to Malaysian local engineers and technicians. Following this, on 28 December, 1993, a Partnership Agreement was signed between two local Malaysian companies namely, Airod Sdn Bhd (an Aviation MRO company) and Tahap Harmoni Sdn Bhd (an investment company) with Alenia S.p.A. of Italy, a well known manufacturer and worldwide supplier of ATM systems.
